Matthias Klingenberg, a German expert in international development, has confirmed his participation as a speaker in the second panel session of the International Textile Forum – Tajikistan 2026.
He is currently leading the TexVET project, officially titled “Supporting the Reform and Modernization of the Vocational Education System in Uzbekistan”, which promotes elements of the German dual training system tailored to the needs of the textile and light industry. Klingenberg holds a master’s degree in modern history and political science and has dedicated his professional career to international development cooperation, with a particular focus on vocational education and skills development.
The topic of his presentation, “Introducing the German Dual Education System into the Uzbek Textile Industry: A role model for Central Asia?”, closely aligns with the core priorities of the Forum and will provide participants from across the region with practical insights into dual training.
The German dual education system is based on training in two learning environments: directly in an enterprise and at a vocational school. By combining classroom-based theoretical instruction with hands‑on work experience in real production settings, it facilitates a smoother school‑to‑work transition and enables companies to train specialists whose skills match their concrete operational needs. According to Matthias Klingenberg, the key principles of this model include close partnerships between business and educational institutions, joint development of curricula, and a strong emphasis on practice‑oriented learning.
Mr. Klingenberg’s participation in the Forum offers a valuable opportunity to explore how the German dual education approach can be adapted to the context of Tajikistan’s light industry and to identify specific avenues for cooperation between enterprises, vocational schools, and international partners.
